Field Trips & Outreaches

Winter Kidz

For this community outreach we brought our field and robots to the mall for their Winter Kidz program. We got to show our robots to young pre-schoolers and people walking around the Harrisburg mall. This was in December 2019.

In November 2019 we went to take a class on 3D printing class in Dillsburg, PA.

At Katapult we learned how to 3D print a boat and were able to see what the 3D printed objects looked like when they were finished. Katapult demonstrated to us how to do some very cool things when designing our 3D printed shapes. Additionally, we learned that we could find more ideas on Thingiverse. In the end we were allowed to try out a very cool virtual reality (VR) gaming system which was the most fun of all!

PRX 2019

In October 2019, we went to the Philly Robotics Expo. This was held at the University of Penn's Singh Center for Nanotechnology! We got to tour some of Penn's robotics labs and did some fun activities.

We went to Lancaster Science Factory in the late spring of 2019 and got to try many interactive exhibits like building bridges and building structures to withstand earthquakes! There are many interesting other displays.

This was a fun outreach. We participated in the Acton children's business fair. Our business idea was creating a robotics experience for kids. We had 3 activities they could do: drive through a maze in under 1 minute, drive and score points on a mini ringmaster field or score points on the Next level field in 1 minute. Our customers were mainly other kids. We won an award for most promising idea!

For this community outreach we got to participate in the STEM day for Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) kids ministry in Morgantown, West Virginia. We brought the Next level field and introduced the game to them and showed them how to drive and score points.

We went to visit the GRASP lab in Philadelphia, PA. The GRASP

Lab stands for General Robotics, Automation, Sensing, and Perception Laboratory, it is part of the University of Pennsylvania's

School of Engineering and Applied Science. We were able to see some biologically inspired robots, modular robots and autonomously flying robots that could swarm.
